  • SeniorLAW Center’s new Family Court Presence Project
SeniorLAW Center has established a regular presence outside of the Domestic Violence Unit of Philadelphia Family Court, located in Room 242 at 34 S. 11th Street. A STOP project team member is available most Mondays from 9 am to noon to assist senior victims of domestic violence who have come to file a petition for a Protection from Abuse Order. Assistance will include providing information about the legal process, individual counseling, and making referrals as appropriate to domestic violence organizations and our partner CARIE for social services.
  • SeniorLAW Center’s new partnership with the Philadelphia Police Department Telephone Outreach Program (TOP)
This project of the Philadelphia Police Department involves four domestic violence organizations, and SeniorLAW Center is proud to be the participating agency serving senior victims. In consultation with our partner agencies, Philadelphia Police have implemented a new form for domestic violence calls which facilitates the investigation and prosecution of domestic violence cases. The forms for victims over 60 years old, completed by responding police officers, will be distributed regularly to SeniorLAW Center. Our team members will contact the senior victims by telephone with information about resources they may not have otherwise been aware of, including but not limited to legal advocacy.
