SeniorLAW Center cancels March 21, 2020 Gala due to COVID-19 concerns, older Americans hardest hit

Dear valued partner:

In light of concerns and uncertainty posed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and in light of the urgent, disproportionate, and profound impact of this virus on the older client communities we serve, SeniorLAW Center has decided to cancel its March 21st, 2020 Gala.

This was an extremely hard decision, but we believe strongly it is the right decision, as we do not yet know the full ramifications of this global health crisis. We know that transmission is enhanced by public events. We know that celebration does not feel right at this time.

Our first priority is ensuring our services continue to be available to older Americans to save their homes, fight poverty, abuse, and exploitation, and strengthen families. The health and safety of you, our supporters, our team, and our clients is our focus. This is the responsible thing to do for our community during this time.

The support of our donors and supporters is more important than ever and we are grateful for your generosity. Many older people in our community are isolated, afraid, uncertain, and needing our interventions more than ever.

Please know that your sponsorship or ticket purchase will now be considered a full charitable contribution, which will be directed toward our life-changing services. Should you wish to seek a refund, please contact Kristen Wilson at

We will be exploring the possibility of finding a new date at the right time for this celebration of our work and our extraordinary honorees, and will be sharing information as the situation evolves. We will also keep you informed about best practices for you and the older people in your lives and how we are working to protect the thousands of older people who need us, especially now.

Please see full letter from Executive Director, Karen C. Buck, Esq. here.
