JAN 19 – All three major cell phone carriers (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile) have announced that their 3G networks will end service as soon as February 2022, to make way for the national transition to speedier 5G cellular services. If you use an older phone or other device which utilizes 3G connectivity, your service will likely terminate, and your phone will be unable to make or receive phone calls and texts, including 911 services. Contact your service provider or visit their website to check whether your phone will be affected.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued guidelines for making the transition from 3G, including discounted phone and broadband services for low-income consumers.
