CLE NEW GUARDIANSHIP RIGHT TO COUNSEL (ACT 61): Everything You Need to Know to Begin Representing Alleged Incapacitated Persons in the Philadelphia Orphans’ Court

In December 2023, Pennsylvania enacted adult guardianship reform legislation (Act 61 of 2023), to be implemented by mid-2024. One of the most important changes is an automatic right to counsel for Alleged Incapacitated Persons, who face a significant loss of fundamental civil rights. The Honorable Sheila Woods-Skipper, Administrative Judge of the Philadelphia Orphans’ Court, will introduce this virtual 3.5-credit hour CLE (2.5 substantive, 1.0 ethics).
Any attorney interested in accepting Philadelphia court appointments to represent Alleged Incapacitated Persons and Incapacitated Persons in guardianship proceedings should attend this practical, nuts-and-bolts training – no prior Orphans’ Court experience required.
