Reminder: Two Important Property Tax Program Deadlines Are Approaching!

The deadline to apply for the Homestead Exemption is September 13, 2013. The Homestead Exemption is a program that may reduce the total assessed value of your home by $30,000. If you are granted the Homestead Exemption, your real estate tax bill will be lower next year. You can apply directly over the phone at 215-686-9200!
To qualify:
• You must live in your property as your primary residence.
• You must have an ownership interest in the property.

You can apply by calling 215-686-9200.  You can also apply online or print out a downloadable application from the City of Philadelphia’s website.

The deadline to apply for the Senior Citizen Tax Freeze is January 31st, 2014. The Senior Citizen Tax Freeze is a program that enables eligible senior citizens to prevent increases in their real estate taxes in the future. For more information, call the Philadelphia Department of Revenue at 215-686-6442, or 215-686-6600.
To qualify:
• You or your spouse must be 65 or older, or you must be over 50 and your deceased spouse was at least 65 at the time of death.
• Your total income must be $23,500 or less for a single person, or $31,500 or less for a married couple.
