SeniorLAW Center

Susan C. Nolen, Esq.

Supervising Attorney, Victim Services

WHAT DO YOU DO AT SENIORLAW CENTER?

As a staff attorney, I provide our Chester County clients with both legal and referral services arising out of financial and safety issues. This assistance may include Victims’ Compensation, navigating the criminal justice process, safeguarding victims’ rights, crisis intervention/safety planning, victim impact statements, and civil advocacy/representation.

WHY DO YOU WORK AT SENIORLAW CENTER?

Our senior citizens are an underserved group within our population. They deserve all the rights and remedies guaranteed to all of us under federal, state and local laws. SeniorLAW Center is dedicated to ensuring access to financial, legal, social and personal resources for our seniors. I want to be a part of that mission.

HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR WORK AT SENIORLAW CENTER?

Opening our new Chester County office in April 2019 was very exciting. PA Superior Court Judge Paula Francisco Ott, and West Chester Mayor, Dianne Herrin, both spoke at our ribbon-cutting in June. And in October, we received a generous grant from the Chester County Bar Foundation toward our efforts to address financial exploitation and abuse of senior citizens. Our clients, our many Chester County partners in serving the elder community, local law enforcement and politicians, the county judges, and our fellow attorneys have all been very welcoming and supportive. As a result, we have served almost 200 seniors – and that number keeps climbing. We’re so pleased to be contributing to this close-knit community.

PERSONAL FACT

I became an attorney to help others. As my career progressed, so did my thinking about what that meant. In recent years, I have focused on helping those who don’t otherwise have access to legal resources, such as the indigent and the elderly. I’m excited about continuing in that quest as a member of the SeniorLAW Center legal team.
