WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE?

I am a litigation attorney specializing in products liability and toxic tort litigation and preventive counseling, business litigation, insurance counseling and coverage litigation, bad faith, and casualty, professional liability and employment discrimination litigation.

WHY ARE YOU INVOLVED WITH SENIORLAW CENTER?

In my dealings with the elderly, I have often seen how difficult and even chaotic their lives can become when they are faced with a crisis. My membership on the SeniorLAW Center’s Board of Directors, and my time spent as a volunteer attorney, has enabled me to participate in a structured approach toward helping the elderly bring control and satisfaction to their lives through legal work that the Center performs for them.

HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR BOARD MEMBERSHIP / LEADERSHIP?

My participation as Co-Chair of the Program & Personnel Committee will allow me to assist in the development of a strategic plan with an eye towards the progress and growth of the SeniorLAW Center, as well as the challenges that the future may bring for the Center and its mission.

OTHER WAYS YOU SERVE AS A VOLUNTEER FOR SLC?

My most challenging work as a volunteer at the SeniorLAW Center involved a financial exploitation and abuse case in which an elderly, handicapped husband and wife were defrauded by their son and his wife into signing over ownership of their house to them. After gaining ownership, the son and his wife proceeded to encumber the property with a substantial mortgage and use the full amount of the cash paid to them by the mortgage company for their own benefit. Then, the son and his wife filed a landlord tenant action against the elderly couple to have them evicted from the property. After a considerable amount of litigation, I was successful in keeping the elderly couple in their home for as long as they could remain there, and to help them gain some ownership rights with no obligation to pay toward the mortgage that the son and his wife caused to encumber the property.

WHY DO YOU THINK OTHERS SHOULD SUPPORT SENIORLAW CENTER?

There are many reasons to support SeniorLAW Center. It is the only Pennsylvania legal services organization focused on assisting the elderly on a number of fronts, including protecting the elderly from financial exploitation and abuse and helping them take proper custody of young relative children who have been abandoned, neglected or abused by birth parents.

OTHER LEADERSHIP POSITIONS AND WAYS YOU GIVE BACK?

I am an Investigator for the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Commission on Judicial Selection and Retention and a Democratic Committeeperson in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
