WHY ARE YOU INVOLVED WITH SENIORLAW CENTER?

I wanted to work with the SeniorLAW Center because of the range of initiatives it has to fulfill its mission of seeking justice for seniors. I see SLC’s advocacy on three levels. First, on an individual level, it provides legal representation for older Philadelphians facing, for example, landlord/tenant or kinship care issues. At the community level, SeniorLAW Center does so much outreach. The “Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” initiative is just one example—SLC doesn’t just represent individual clients in kinship care matters, it also hosts events and trainings to support community members who don’t currently need legal assistance. The last level is SLC’s statewide and nationwide advocacy. The amazing attorneys and staff at SLC are involved in promoting legislative changes that preserve and expand the rights of seniors.
