We regretfully share that our beloved SeniorLAW Center colleague and dear friend Lloyd Francis died on August 10, 2024.
Lloyd worked with us since 2011 in a variety of roles, from Receptionist to Administrative Assistant and most recently, as a member of our HelpLine and Intake, Education and Pro Bono team. Lloyd first came to SeniorLAW Center as a Mayor’s Commission on Aging Senior Employment program participant and had just celebrated his 13th SeniorLAW Center work anniversary last month. In his time here, Lloyd worked directly with clients face-to-face and over the phone to help identify their legal issues. Lloyd had remarked before: “My main commitment is to assist seniors and legal staff in providing legal services to those in need. The highlight of my work is to see the clients’ relief and gratitude for the services provided.”
Earlier in his life, Lloyd was a U.S. Army Operations Manager, and served our country for over 20 years. When he retired, he remained affiliated with the Armed Forces to give back as a part of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Association.
We had the privilege of honoring Lloyd and his service as a member of the Senior Veterans Advisory Corps at SeniorLAW Center’s 2016 gala and shared his remarkable life story as a biracial career military man who traveled the world.
Lloyd will be profoundly missed as an important member of the SeniorLAW Center community. We share our deepest sympathies with his children Desiree and Lloyd, Jr. and family. We will continue to carry on our mission seeking justice for older people in his memory. Rest in peace, dear friend.
