SeniorLAW Center

Madeline Jarvis

Legal Advocate, Access to Justice in Guardianship

WHAT DO YOU DO AT SENIORLAW CENTER?

I respond to HelpLine requests received by my project, which focuses on guardianship defense for older adults who are allegedly “incapacitated.” The Access to Justice in Guardianship project also receives court appointments for extended representation from Philadelphia and Montgomery County Orphans Courts. As legal advocate, I connect clients to staff attorneys for counsel, brief services, or extended representation to challenge, limit, or terminate guardianships.

WHY DO YOU WORK AT SENIORLAW CENTER?

SeniorLAW Center advocates for the justice, respect, and dignity of older adults in our communities. All too often, older adults and seniors are overlooked and their contributions unappreciated. I am thrilled to be part of an organization dedicated to serving this diverse population.

HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR WORK AT SENIORLAW CENTER?

The ability to connect with and hear clients’ unique stories first-hand.

BEFORE SENIORLAW CENTER

I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in 2013-2014 at a food bank and helpline in North Seattle, which began my professional journey. Prior to joining the staff in 2023, I worked at Planned Parenthood Southeastern Pennsylvania and explored freelance writing.
