SeniorLAW Center

Expanding our work for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren in PA through a grant from the U.S. Administration for Community Living

SeniorLAW Center is honored to be one of six organizations nationally to be awarded a Legal Assistance Enhancement Program grant from the U.S. Administration for Community Living (ACL) to expand legal services for grandparents raising grandchildren in Pennsylvania. This important partnership will support expanded statewide services through our PA SeniorLAW HelpLine and on-the-ground legal aid, pro bono, law school and education services in the Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Pittsburgh regions. Over 100,000 kids are being raised by grandchildren in PA today through kinship care, an issue which has been exacerbated by the opioid epidemic, overdose and addiction, as well as other family crises. Grandparents and other kinship caregivers are saving the state approximately $1 billion by keeping children in the homes of kin, where they flourish, and out of foster care.
