PA HOUSE HEARING ON SENIOR LEGAL SERVICES

SeniorLAW Center joined key partners on April 11, 2018 in presenting testimony at a special hearing on the powerful impact of senior legal services on the lives of older Pennsylvanians before the House Aging and Older Adult Services Committee. SeniorLAW Center’s Executive Director Karen C. Buck and Legal Director Wendy E. Bookler testified along with Pennsylvania Department of Aging’s Deborah Hargett-Robinson, Mid-Penn Legal Services  Executive Director Rhodia Thomas on behalf of PLAN, Pam Walz, Director of the Aging and Disability Unit of CLS, and Prof. Katherine Pearson of Dickinson Law School.  “Legal services have dramatic impact on the lives of older Pennsylvanians and their families, including thousands of children, every day,” said Karen Buck, SeniorLAW Center’s Executive Director. “And senior legal services are a great return on investment, estimated to be at least an $11 return for each $1 invested, keeping kids out of foster care and in kinship care, preventing senior homelessness and institutionalization, enabling seniors to age in place in safe, habitable homes, avoiding guardianship, and much more.” Read our testimony here .
