The Philadelphia Department of Revenue has announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2015 Senior Citizen Real Estate Tax Freeze Program. The program helps senior citizens save money by “freezing” their real estate taxes at the current year’s rate. Once approved, the homeowner’s real estate taxes will not increase. The Homestead Exemption is a Philadelphia property tax program that reduces the taxable portion of your property assessment by $30,000. If you are granted the Homestead Exemption, your real estate tax bill will likely be lower next year. You can apply directly over the phone at 215-686-9200, in any language.
