On November 15, 2016, SeniorLAW Center’s Elizabeth P. Shay, Esq., Coordinator of SeniorLAW Center’s Homeowners Assistance Program, appeared at the Homes Within Reach Conference in Harrisburg on a panel with leaders from Clarifi and The Reinvestment Fund where light was shed on the problems arising from reverse mortgage delinquencies. People gathered from throughout the Commonwealth to discuss the need for more assistance to seniors whose homes are in need of major repair. With greater home repair assistance, it is believed that the demand for reverse mortgages among low-income populations would decrease. The panel also addressed the critical need for HUD to intercede with reverse mortgage servicers to honor Philadelphia real estate tax agreements.
