SeniorLAW Center Receives Grant from William Penn Foundation to Improve and Expand Services for Grandparents who are Raising Grandchildren

The William Penn Foundation has generously awarded SLC a $500,000.00 grant over 3 years in support of SeniorLAW Center’s Grandparents Raising Grandchildren project (GRG). SeniorLAW Center will improve and expand our services focused on Philadelphia “grandfamilies” – families in which grandparents or other older adult kin are the primary caregivers for young children. SeniorLAW Center will increase the number of Philadelphia grandparents/older kinship caregivers receiving direct legal services. Founded in 1945 by Otto and Phoebe Haas, The William Penn Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Greater Philadelphia region through efforts that increase educational opportunities for children from low-income families, ensure a sustainable environment, provide inclusive and equitable public spaces, arts, and culture experiences, and advance philanthropy in the Philadelphia region. We are grateful for this support to enhance our services for Philadelphia’s grand families with innovative partnerships and initiatives. We hope other funders will follow the lead of the Foundation in investing in these families who need and deserve our support and attention.
