On Tuesday, May 17, SeniorLAW Center partnered with Exelon Legal, PECO, Blank Rome LLP and other volunteers to serve Hispanic seniors in their own language and community at our 7th Annual Hispanic Seniors Life Planning bilingual legal clinic. With the help of 33 volunteers at a clinic held at a new site – ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania at 4322 N. 5th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 – SeniorLAW Center clients came for counsel and assistance with the preparation of critical life planning documents, including wills, financial and health care powers of attorney and living wills. These empowering documents are of vital importance to their lives as they contemplate their future needs and those who they can count on to help them as they age. All of the clients were predominant Spanish speakers and all services were available in Spanish. Interpreters were recruited from OLÉ (Organization of Latinos at Exelon), as well as ASPIRA and Congreso to help explain the documents to the clients so that volunteers could accurately document and execute their preferences. Thanks to Exelon, Blank Rome, ASPIRA and all of our volunteers for this wonderful day of service!
