On May 11, staff attorney Susanna Ratner spoke on a panel about tax implications of reverse mortgages at the American Bar Association Section of Taxation’s May meeting in Washington, DC. She discussed how even a minor property tax delinquency can quickly lead to reverse mortgage foreclosure. Her co-panelists were Stacy Canan from the CFPB’s Office of Older Americans, Joanne Savage from AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly, and Christina Glendening from the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. The panel was moderated by NYC Taxpayer Advocate Eunkyong Choi.
