Victim Services for Seniors Expand to Suburban Counties and Underserved Populations

We are pleased to announce that we were recently awarded five VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) grants from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to assist victims of elder abuse and financial exploitation! Thanks to advocacy by many organizations around the country, including SeniorLAW Center, the VOCA federal cap was lifted, making available millions of more dollars to assist crime victims; both elders and civil legal services were made priorities. In Philadelphia, we will be expanding our current work to serve more veteran victims of elder abuse and financial exploitation as well as limited English proficient (LEP) senior victims, with a special emphasis on serving the Asian community.  We are also pleased to announce that for the first time we will provide extended representation services to senior victims of financial exploitation In Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware and Chester counties.  This is a historic time for new funds for our victim services work in the five county region.

Led by our Victim Services Director, Dana Goldberg, the VOCA expansion teams are as follows:

Philadelphia LEP/Vets

                Leah Finlayson, attorney

Bucks/Montgomery Counties

                Sophia Polites, attorney
