The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides resources in the form of fresh, nutritious, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs from farmers’ markets, roadside stands and community supported agriculture programs to low income seniors.
The program will provide the seniors with four vouchers, totaling $20, which they can exchange for Pennsylvania grown produce. To qualify, individuals must be 60 or older by December 31, 2012, with a total household income before taxes of less than $20,665 for a single person and $27,991 for a couple based on 2011 income. Proof of age and residency is required.
Vouchers are available at the Philadelphia Senior Center, Broad and Lombard Streets, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday starting July 9 until they run out. Vouchers will also be distributed at the Reading Terminal Market from 10am to 2pm July 11th and 18th. Please have ID to show proof of age.
