In collaboration with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, SeniorLAW Center’s Dana Goldberg: Project S.A.F.E. Coordinator, is a panelist for “Aging Safely: Preventing Elder Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation held at William Way Community Center in Philadelphia, PA on June 4, 2016 at 12:30pm. As the population continues to grow, the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults has become a critical issue we can’t afford to ignore. This free workshop will explore ways that elder abuse affects LGBT older adults and will feature experts discussing these issues from medical, social, and legal perspectives. You will learn how to identify abuse, what to do if you encounter it, and the resources to protect yourself and others from becoming victims.

In conjunction with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, The Philadelphia Financial Exploitation Prevention Task Force presents: “SOS, Safeguarding our Seniors: A Forum for Seniors and Their Caregivers.” June 15, 2016, 10 a.m. until noon at Philadelphia Free Library, Skyline Room. A panel discussion focusing on keeping seniors’ money and assets safe, making good financial decisions as seniors age and identifying available resources. Chris O’Connell from Fox29 News will be moderating. SeniorLAW Center is proud to sit on the planning committee for this event and we are a member of Philadelphia’s Financial Exploitation Task Force. Dana Goldberg, Project S.A.F.E. Coordinator, will be addressing the legal means for protecting one’s self and the legal resources available for pursuing remedies. Joe Snyder, Director for OAPS from PCA, Kenneth Spaide from Homeland Security, Dr. Jason Karlawish from Penn Memory Center, Linda Johnson from TruMark Financial Credit Union and Carey Morgan, Program Director for Financial Empowerment Centers, Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity will be joining Dana as panelists, as well.
