All of us at SeniorLAW Center mourn the loss of Dr. Leon Bass, WWII veteran, African American soldier, Holocaust liberator, Philadelphia public school teacher and principal, enduring voice for justice and equality, and our 2014 SeniorLAW Center Champion of the Year.
Those of you who attended last year’s gala had the extraordinary pleasure of meeting and hearing from this remarkable man. Our Executive Director Karen Buck and immediate past board chair Ron Shaffer also had the opportunity to sit at his kitchen table last spring as he shared his stories of segregation, war, liberation and hope. We are so saddened by his passing.
