SeniorLAW Center Celebrates Juneteenth

In observance of Juneteenth, SeniorLAW Center will close its offices this Friday, June 19th. SeniorLAW Center’s Co-Chair of its Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Alex Deering stated, “This holiday commemorates how far we have come, but helps us remember that just like the freed people in Galveston, Texas in 1865, although we dream of a country that exemplifies equal justice, for many it is still a dream deferred.”

SeniorLAW Center has been committed to the fight of combating the racial and economic injustices that have been deeply rooted and felt in the communities we serve through the law. We are encouraging our employees to take the day to educate themselves and others and reflect on additional ways our organization can promote racial justice for our clients, staff, and communities. Bobbi Jacobs-Meadway, Vice Chair of the Board and Co-Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee adds: “We are proud to join our colleagues and communities in celebrating the beginnings of freedom for the formerly enslaved and in celebrating the continuing efforts to make real the promise of freedom announced that day in Galveston.”
